Angels

« Και συνέβη όταν αυξήθηκαν οι υιοί των ανθρώπων, εκείνες τις μέρες να γεννηθούν ωραίες και χαριτωμένες θυγατέρες. Και οι άγγελοι, τα τέκνα του ουρανού, τις είδαν και τις πεθύμισαν, και είπαν μεταξύ τους: ‘ Ελάτε, ας εκλέξουμε για μας συζύγους από τα τέκνα των ανθρώπων και ας γεννήσουμε για μας δικά τους τέκνα.’ Και ο Σεμιαζάς, που ήταν αρχηγός τους, τους είπε: ‘ Φοβάμαι πως δεν θα συμφωνήσετε να κάνουμε αυτό το πράγμα, και μόνος εγώ θα πληρώσω την τιμωρία μιας μεγάλης αμαρτίας.’ Και όλοι αυτοί απάντησαν προς αυτόν και είπαν: ‘ Ας ορκιστούμε όλοι όρκο, και ας δεσμευτούμε μεταξύ μας με αμοιβαίες κατάρες για να μην εγκαταλείψουμε το σχέδιο αυτό αλλά να πράξουμε αυτό που αποφασίσαμε.’ Τότε ορκίσθηκαν όλοι μαζί και δέσμευσαν τους εαυτούς τους με αμοιβαίες κατάρες. Και συνολικά ήταν διακόσιοι, όσοι κατέβηκαν κατά τις μέρες του Ιάρεδ επί της κορυφής του όρους Ερμών, και το ονόμασαν Ερμών, διότι ορκίσθηκαν και αναθεμάτισαν ο ένας τον άλλον πάνω σ’ αυτό. Και αυτά είναι τα ονόματα των αρχηγών τους: Σεμιαζάς ο αρχηγός τους, Αραθάκ, Κιμβρά, Σαμμανή, Δανειήλ, Αρεαρώς, Σεμιήλ, Ιωμειήλ, Χωχαριήλ, Εζεκιήλ, Βατριήλ, Σαθιήλ, Ατριήλ, Ταμιήλ, Βαρακιήλ, Ανανθά, Θωνιήλ, Ραμιήλ, Ασεάλ, Ρακειήλ, Τουριήλ. Chapter 6
1 And it came to pass when the children of men had multiplied that in those days were born
unto them beautiful and comely daughters.
2 And the angels, the children of the heaven, saw and lusted after them, and said to one
another: 'Come, let us choose us wives from among the children of men
3 and beget us children.' And Semjaza, who was their leader, said unto them: 'I fear ye will
not
4 indeed agree to do this deed, and I alone shall have to pay the penalty of a great sin.' And
they all answered him and said: 'Let us all swear an oath, and all bind ourselves by mutual
imprecations
5 not to abandon this plan but to do this thing.' Then sware they all together and bound
themselves
6 by mutual imprecations upon it. And they were in all two hundred; who descended in the
days of Jared on the summit of Mount Hermon, and they called it Mount Hermon, because
they had sworn
7 and bound themselves by mutual imprecations upon it. And these are the names of their
leaders: Samlazaz, their leader, Araklba, Rameel, Kokablel, Tamlel, Ramlel, Danel, Ezeqeel,
Baraqijal,
8 Asael, Armaros, Batarel, Ananel, Zaq1el, Samsapeel, Satarel, Turel, Jomjael, Sariel. These are their chiefs of tens.



Και όλοι οι υπόλοιποι έλαβαν μαζί με αυτούς για τον εαυτό τους γυναίκες, και ο καθένας διάλεξε από μία, και άρχισαν να εισέρχονται σε αυτές και να μολύνουν τον εαυτό τους μαζί τους, και δίδαξαν σε αυτές γοητείες και φαρμακείες και ριζοτομίες, και τις έμαθαν να γνωρίζουν τα βότανα. Και αυτές συνέλαβαν, και εγέννησαν μεγάλους γίγαντες, ύψους τριών χιλιάδων πήχεων, οι οποίοι καταβρόχθισαν τους κόπους των ανθρώπων. Και άρχισαν να αμαρτάνουν κατά των πτηνών και των ζώων, και των ερπετών, και των ιχθύων, και να τρώγει ο ένας τις σάρκες του άλλου, και να πίνουν το αίμα. Και η γη κατηγόρησε τους ανόμους. Chapter 7
1 And all the others together with them took unto themselves wives, and each chose for
himself one, and they began to go in unto them and to defile themselves with them, and they
taught them charms
2and enchantments, and the cutting of roots, and made them acquainted with plants. And they
3 became pregnant, and they bare great giants, whose height was three thousand ells: Who
consumed
4 all the acquisitions of men. And when men could no longer sustain the m, the giants turned
against
5 them and devoured mankind. And they began to sin against birds, and beasts, and reptiles,
and
6 fish, and to devour one another's flesh, and drink the blood. Then the earth laid accusation
against the lawless ones.



Και ο Αζαήλ δίδαξε τους ανθρώπους να κατασκευάζουν ξίφη, και μαχαίρια και ασπίδες και θώρακες, και έκαμε εις αυτούς γνωστά τα μέταλλα της γης και την τέχνη της κατεργασίας αυτών, και ψέλια και στολίδια, και τη χρήση του αντιμονίου και το καλλωπισμό των βλεφάρων, και όλα τα είδη των πολύτιμων λίθων και όλα τα βαφικά. Και έγινε πολλή ασέβεια, και διέπραξαν πορνεία και επλανήθησαν και διεφθάρησαν από τις διδασκαλίες αυτών. Ο Σεμιαζάς τους δίδαξε τις γοητείες και τις ριζοτομίες, ο Αρμαρώς την λύση των γοητειών, ο Ρακειήλ την αστρολογία, ο Χωχιήλ τα σημεία της γης, ο Σαθιήλ τους αστερισμούς, ο Σεριήλ την πορεία της σελήνης.» Κεφάλαιο 8, στίχοι 1 – 4.

Chapter 8
1 And Azazel taught men to make swords, and knives, and shields, and breastplates, and made
known to them the metals of the earth and the art of working them, and bracelets, and
ornaments, and the use of antimony, and the beautifying of the eyelids, and all kinds of costly
stones, and all
2 colouring tinctures. And there arose much godlessness, and they committed fornication, and
they
3 were led astray, and became corrupt in all their ways. Semjaza taught enchantments, and
root-cuttings, 'Armaros the resolving of enchantments, Baraqijal (taught) astrology, Kokabel
the constellations, Ezeqeel the knowledge of the clouds, Araqiel the signs of the earth,
Shamsiel the signs of the sun, and Sariel the course of the moon.


«Και αυτά είναι τα ονόματα των αγίων αγγέλων, οι οποίοι γρηγορούν. Ουριήλ, ένας από τους άγιους αγγέλους ο επί του κόσμου και του ταρτάρου. Ραφαήλ, ένας από τους άγιους αγγέλους ο επί των πνευμάτων των ανθρώπων. Ραγουήλ, ένας από τους άγιους αγγέλους αυτός που παίρνει εκδίκηση επί του κόσμου των φωστήρων. Μιχαήλ, ένας από τους άγιους αγγέλους αυτός που είναι ταγμένος επί του αρίστου μέρους της ανθρωπότητας και επί του χάους. Σαρακαήλ, ένας από τους άγιους αγγέλους αυτός που είναι ταγμένος επί των πνευμάτων όσων αμαρτάνουν με το πνεύμα. Γαβριήλ, ένας από τους άγιους αγγέλους αυτός που είναι επί του Παραδείσου και των φιδιών και των Χερουβείμ. Ρεμιήλ, ένας από τους άγιους αγγέλους, τον οποίον ο Θεός έβαλε επί των αναστημένων.»Κεφάλαιο 20, στίχοι 1 – 8.

Chapter 20
1,2 And these are the names of the holy angels who watch. Uriel, one of the holy angels, who is
3 over the world and over Tartarus. Raphael, one of the holy angels, who is over the spirits of
men.
4,5 Raguel, one of the holy angels who takes vengeance on the world of the luminaries.
Michael, one
6 of the holy angels, to wit, he that is set over the best part of ma nkind and over chaos.
Saraqael,
7 one of the holy angels, who is set over the spirits, who sin in the spirit. Gabriel, one of the
holy
8 angels, who is over Paradise and the serpents and the Cherubim. Remiel, one of the holy
angels, whom God set over those who rise.



« Μετά από αυτό ρώτησα τον άγγελο της ειρήνης που ήταν μαζί μου, που μου φανέρωνε όλα τα μυστήρια : ‘ Ποια είναι τα τέσσερα αυτά πρόσωπα τα οποία είδα και τους λόγους των οποίων άκουσα και κατέγραψα;’ Και αυτός μου απάντησε: ‘ Ο πρώτος είναι ο Μιχαήλ, ο ελεήμων και ο μακρόθυμος. Ο δεύτερος είναι ο Ραφαήλ, ο οποίος έχει κατασταθεί επί όλων των νόσων και των πληγών των ανθρώπων. Ο τρίτος είναι ο Γαβριήλ, ο οποίος έχει κατασταθεί επί όλων των δυνάμεων. Και ο τέταρτος είναι αυτός ο οποίος έχει κατασταθεί επί της μετάνοιας και της ελπίδας εκείνων, οι οποίοι θα κληρονομήσουν την αιώνια ζωή, και ονομάζεται Φανουήλ.’» Κεφάλαιο 40, στίχοι 8 – 9.

Chapter 40

8 After that I asked the angel of peace who
went with me, who showed me everything that is hidden: Who are these four presences which
I have
9 seen and whose words I have heard and written down? And he said to me: This first is
Michael, the merciful and long-suffering: and the second, who is set over all the diseases and
all the wounds of the children of men, is Raphael: and the third, who is set over all the
powers, is Gabriel: and the fourth, who is set over the repentance unto hope of those who
inherit eternal life, is named Phanuel.



«Και αυτοί είναι οι άρχοντες των αγγέλων των και των ονομάτων των, και των επικεφαλής εκατοντάδων και πεντηκοντάδων και δεκάδων.
Το όνομα του πρώτου Γιεκών: δηλ. αυτός είναι, ο οποίος αποπλάνησε τους υιούς του Θεού και έφερε αυτούς κάτω στη γη και τους αποπλάνησε με τις θυγατέρες των ανθρώπων. Και ο δεύτερος ονομάστηκε Ασβιήλ: έδωσε στους αγίους υιούς του Θεού κακή συμβουλή και τους αποπλάνησε, ώστε να μολύνουν τα σώματά τους με τις θυγατέρες των ανθρώπων. Και ο τρίτος ονομάστηκε Γαδριήλ: αυτός είναι εκείνος, που υπέδειξε στα τέκνα των ανθρώπων όλα τα θανάσιμα κτυπήματα, παραπλάνησε την Εύα, και υπέδειξε την ασπίδα και τον θώρακα και το ξίφος δια τη μάχη και όλα τα όπλα του θανάτου στα τέκνα των ανθρώπων. Από το χέρι του διαδόθηκαν τα όπλα στους κατοίκους της γης από εκείνη την μέρα και εις το διηνεκές. Και ο τέταρτος ονομάστηκε Πενεμουέ: Δίδαξε στα τέκνα των ανθρώπων το πικρό και το γλυκύ, και τους δίδαξε όλα τα μυστικά της σοφίας των. Και καθοδήγησε την ανθρωπότητα να γράφει με μελάνι και χαρτί, και έτσι πολλοί αμάρτησαν από αιώνα σε αιώνα μέχρι την ημέρα αυτή. Διότι οι άνθρωποι δεν δημιουργήθηκαν γι’ αυτό το σκοπό, να επιβεβαιώνουν την καλή του πίστη με γραφίδα και μελάνη. Διότι οι άνθρωποι δημιουργήθηκαν ακριβώς, όπως και οι άγγελοι, με σκοπό να συνεχίσουν καθαροί και δίκαιοι, ο δε θάνατος, ο οποίος καταστρέφει το παν, δεν θα μπορούσε να τους πειράξει. Πλην όμως, λόγω αυτής της γνώσης χάνονται και με αυτή τη δύναμη ο θάνατος με κατατρέχει. Και ο πέμπτος ονομάστηκε Κασδέϊα: αυτός είναι εκείνος, που έδειξε στα τέκνα των ανθρώπων όλα τα κακά κτυπήματα των πνευμάτων και των δαιμόνων και τα κτυπήματα του εμβρύου στη μήτρα, ώστε να αποβληθεί αυτό, τα κτυπήματα της ψυχής, τα δαγκώματα των φιδιών, και τα κτυπήματα τα οποία συμβαίνουν κατά τη μεσημβρινή ζέστη, τον υιό του φιδιού που καλείται Ταβαέτ. Και αυτό είναι το έργο του Κασβεήλ, του άρχοντα του όρκου, τον οποίον έδειξε στους αγίους, όταν κατοικούσε πάνω στα ψηλά με δόξα και το όνομά του είναι Βικά» Κεφάλαιο 69, στίχοι 3 – 13.

Chapter 69
3 And these are the chiefs of their angels and their names, and their chief ones over hundreds and over fifties and over tens.

4 The name of the first Jeqon: that is, the one who led astray [all] the sons of God, and
brought them
5 down to the earth, and led them astray through the daughters of men. And the second was
named Asbeel: he imparted to the holy sons of God evil counsel, and led them astray so that
they defiled
6 their bodies with the daughters of men. And the third was named Gadreel: he it is who
showed the children of men all the blows of death, and he led astray Eve, and showed [the
weapons of death to the sons of men] the shield and the coat of mail, and the sword for battle,
and all the weapons
7 of death to the children of men. And from his hand they have proceeded against those who
dwell
8 on the earth from that day and for evermore. And the fourth was named Penemue: he taught
the
9 children of men the bitter and the sweet, and he taught them all the secrets of their wisdom.
And he instructed mankind in writing with ink and paper, and thereby many sinned from
eternity to
10 eternity and until this day. For men were not created for such a purpose, to give
confirmation
11 to their good faith with pen and ink. For me n were created exactly like the angels, to the
intent that they should continue pure and righteous, and death, which destroys everything,
could not have taken hold of them, but through this their knowledge they are perishing, and
through this power
12 it is consuming me. And the fifth was named Kasdeja: this is he who showed the children
of men all the wicked smitings of spirits and demons, and the smitings of the embryo in the
womb, that it may pass away, and [the smitings of the soul] the bites of the serpent, and the
smitings
13 which befall through the noontide heat, the son of the serpent named Tabaet. And this is
the task of Kasbeel, the chief of the oath which he showed to the holy ones when he dwelt
high
14 above in glory, and its name is Biqa.
